Wrestling |
The combination of two time-tested and proven, systematic and structured training systems is administered by professional and certified coaches, and teaches athletes wrestling rules, wrestling moves, and the use of wrestling rules and moves while focusing on discipline and safety. It incorporates only strategies that reflect a standard of fairness to all competitors, and that encourage participation within the letter and spirit of the rules. The staff, through the use of the training system, instills in our athletes qualities that will not only help them to become successful and productive in the athletic arena, but also in the schools, in the community, in the job market and in life. Our eventual goals are to have at least one stand-alone youth wrestling team in each town in Logan County, to produce interest and growth in the sport so that each Junior High and High School will need to have its own (successful) scholastic wrestling team, and to physically, administratively and financially assist each school in the county to develop and equip those scholastic wrestling teams at little or no cost to the school districts or the taxpayers. We currently have approximately 20 members wrestling at the Guthrie facility who are from various areas throughout Logan County, and have a primary and 2 reserve facilities located inside of Guthrie. We are currently researching potential improved locations in Guthrie, as well as new locations in Cashion, Langston, Coyle, Crescent and Mulhall. In addition, we are evaluating the potential for an intramural program at the Langston University Campus, in hope that the college will eventually add both mens and womens wrestling to the sports that it provides for student athletes.
